FaqForum : pas mal pour identifier ce qui est en transit du forum vers la FAQ, il faudrait ajouter le lien tout de même (marche peut-être pas, si si ça marche !)
De mémoire, les sujets qui reviennent
Chercher les termes par le lien chercher, garder toutes les threads intéressantes :
- clamp MSS : j'ai un PC qui fait passerelle vers internet + message d'erreur mru < pdu
- ipv6 : faut pas le mettre actuellement, expliquer comment l'enlever, pour le diagnostiquer (ifconfig -a)
- latence latency : la mettre à 32 pas à 64, comment l'enlever voir setpci, pour le diagnostiquer voir résultat de lspci
- plein d'erreurs de compilation = problème de kernel-source ou de version de gcc, regarder cat /proc/version ; gcc -v ; ls -l /usr/src|grep linux
- ping DNS_free ok, ping www.free.fr : ko = problème de route ou de firewall

In Italy we have many ISPs, but the physical line is mantained by Telecom Italia (with exclusion of Fastweb)
the most importants ADSL Providers are:
Alice, provided directly by Telecom Italia (probably the biggest)
it has various kinds of subscriptions, generally it uses ppp (PPPoA-PPPoE) connections with dynamic ip address (for home users), and RFC 1483 Routed for static ip address (for office users), in this it's possible subscribe for multiple public ip addresses. ( 5, 8, 15, etc.)
Telecom provides Modem for ppp users, or router for static ip address even with a overprice (few € in a month) in subscription

my provider, it gave me Sagem modem. As i know it supports only PPPoA connections.

In Italy generally VPI/VCI are 8/35, encapsulation vcmux, however i installed so much router for users with ALICE, with static ip address (RFC 1483 Routed) , and i set up them with LLC-SNAP encapsulation. I asked about that, but nobody was able to explain me.
I think that users who have a ppp connection use a VCMUX encapsulation, and who have RFC 1483 Routed use LLC-SNAP, but i'm not sure about that, now i'm using VCMUX on my modem.

Le debit que moi j'utilise est 600/100, ce qui n'est pas tres classique, mais bon, c'est vrai que souvent je telecharge avec 70 KByte/s, donc c'est vraiment plus que 512 Kbit.

Pour configurer la connection, ce que j'ai fait c'est un eagleconfig, puis j'ai choisi le 14 (Telecom Italia). Apres, tout ce que j'ai du modifier etait encapsulation=5.

Instalé la versión 1.9.8 de los drivers sin problemas (lo hice porque no había logrado hacerlo andar con los que viene con el Mandrake, no de puro fana de los updates). Pero no puedo conectar a internet. Vivo en Argentia y tengo una conexión de Speedy (Telefónica) con IP dinámica, aparentemente el VCI es 0 y el VPI es 32, así como el tipo de linea 10, según las keys del registro de Window$. Probé con estos valores, pero nada, también con los valores por defecto que vienen con el driver para Telefónica IP dinámica, y con algunos otros, tabmién cambiando el valor del OPTN0 por el valor de la clave del registro de Win, que en lugar de ser 80020066 es 8002C444 el problema tiene la siguiente pinta.
El módem sincroniza sin problemas (aunque tarda un poco) dejando la opción de
LineType=00000001, ejecuto el startadsl sin problemas, pero instantáneamente pierdo la conexión (si hago un eaglediag ni bien termino el startadsl aparece como conectado aunque DNS Resolver aparece como KO, pero un instante después todos los valores menos los dos primeros aparecen como KO). Desde el monitor de conexiones de Mandrake la situación se ve así. Al apretar en conectar, hay info siendo enviada a través del eth1, pero no recibo nada, pinta que inicializa el ppp0, pero no logro conectar.
Alguna ayuda por favor. Quiero dejar de usar Window$ de una vez y para siempre...

modem starts before than ethernet cards, and got an ethx alias that is used by an ethernet card. this cause errors in running interface configurations scripts (
/etc/sysconfig/network-script/ifcfg-ethx)
else, if i plug in modem when my system is started, all works correctly...
that's a known issue : if the driver is launched too early it messes up ethX configuration, you can force an eth5 on the driver (for example), just add this line to your /etc/modules.conf (or /etc/modprobe.conf for recent kernels):
options eagle-usb if_name="eth5"
